This week the children completed their polar bear fact files. The children were able to write about where the bears lived, who they lived with, what they ate and interesting facts they had found out during their research. I was very impressed with all of the children’s stamina when writing and their fabulous pieces of work.

In topic we started learning about predatory bears. The children used their artistic skills in order to draw birds in flight. Once they had produced their first images, the children used peer critique to look carefully at each other’s work and think about how the work could be improved. The children looked closely at the bird pictures and ensured they added lots of fine detail to their image.

Finally, on Friday we were able to get hands on and investigate what owl pellets could tell us about an owl’s diet. The children were able to pick apart the owl pellets and discover which bone fragments remained from their meals. The children were fascinated by what they found.
